Stronger – than He who Broke My Heart

Poetry

A fancy piece that I created with Yves / D’Onofrio photography

And just for fun… because I’m stronger;
I’m the one who learned to build a heart made of armor,
The one who had to learn to be alone;
I’m that woman who chose to cut loose, to burn free, to chase what seems impossible.

And just for fun… because I’m braver;
I keep in touch to feel the hot coals smolder,
I post my success to show that my fire wasn’t smothered,
I breathe in the hunger of what I used to give to you.

So just for fun… because I’m wiser;
I’ll look at what it was but never again grab hold,
I’ll dance a fiery rhythm and try not to scold,
For I know now that this is just a waiting game and we can’t tame a wild flame.

And because I love, just for fun…
I’ll be like water; relentless, obsessive, reflective, manipulative, persistent…
My encounters will be strategic, and I will want to bare ours souls.
I’m not one for lighthearted chit-chat, what I crave I had and I let go.

Intense. Smoldering. Memories that burn.
I feel things deeply and forever, and now it’s your turn.
I have faith that you will find your way;
broken, torn, gasping for air… Breath, this is a new beginning.

Soiled. Smeared. Extinguished.
Here is your soot covered pen; write your story on somebody else.
